Ignition

Ignition Clip 2.mov
Ignition focuses on the reshaping of landscapes and ecosystems through energy extraction and industrialisation. Adopting a non-anthropocentric perspective, the work unfolds its narrative through a fusion of live-action footage and virtual imagery. Employing a multi-channel narrative structure, it simulates the perpetual operations and material flows inherent in oil, gas, and mineral extraction sites. Colossal industrial installations, burning flames and exhaust fumes are abstracted into a stark, hypnotic visual rhythm, signifying the imbalance between human desire and natural systems. The soundscape combines mechanical noise, low-frequency vibrations and environmental recordings to evoke a sense of space consumed by energy. The work both reconstructs the visual symbols of the industrial age and reflects on the potential ecological crises arising from contemporary society's dependence on energy.
